Dogtown
Type: Neighborhood | District: Bevgren’s Green | City: Chrysanth
Good food. Good Parks. Lots of Nature.
The smell of unfamiliar spices from open kitchen windows. Conversations in Wolf Isle dialects on front stoops. Students hunched over books in corner cafes. Wolf-Isle trees and spaces that appear larger than the neighborhood should rightly be able to fit.
Overview
Named for the predominantly Wolf Isle expats who settled here, Dogtown is an immigrant neighborhood that has grown into a community unto itself. Mostly residential, with wide tree-lined streets of modest but well-kept homes, the neighborhood also hosts a handful of cafes and small businesses that cater to students from nearby Neuros University. The proximity to the university means cheap rent and hungry customers, a combination that keeps the coffee flowing and the doors open.
Landmarks
-
Central Bark
A cafe that has become something of an institution. Known throughout Bevgren’s Green for hosting poetry readings on Markday; some performed in Wolf Isle dialects, some in Imperial Common, some in languages the audience pretends to understand. The coffee is strong, the pastries are better, and the open mic policy is generous to a fault. Outdoor seating with strange acoustics that allow you to hear a whisper from the stage if you’re in the right seats.
